• Have personal e-mail account and access to www
• Commit to 30-45 minutes per week for approximately 5 or 6 months
• Respond to mentee within 48 hours of receipt
• Demonstrate good judgement and set a positive example
• Listen to ideas, encourage questions, concerns and discussions
• Focus mentoring relationship on telementoring objectives & weekly HOT TOPIC discussion suggestions
• Encourage academic motivation and career planning
• Share your personal experiences - achievements and struggles
• Point student in right direction for information when you do not have the answer e.g. Internet searches
• Communicate with co-ordinator whenever there's a question or concern
• Complete a weekly log of all communication with mentee to submit at end of program
• Provide input about participation in the program by completing post-program evaluation

• Demystify university and the workplace for younger women
• Help young women achieve their full potential
• Make a difference in someone else's life
• Feel good having someone interested in what you're doing and sharing your life experiences
• Keep in touch with youth culture
• Encourage young women to pursue careers in your field
• Networking opportunities
